The Central Dogma
By the end of the week, I will be able to describe how genes allow for gene expression by reading about the Central Dogma, drawing a diagram and writing a paragraph to go with my analysis. Reference: The Central Dogma>
A. What is the Central Dogma?The process of a gene to a protein is very complex, but it all starts with the two most important steps: transcipt and translation. When transcript and translation are combined, they create a gene expression. During the transcription process, the information kept in the gene's DNA is transferred to the moleucle, RNA. In the process, the type of RNA molecule used is the messenger RNA because the molecule carrys information or messages from the DNA out of the nucleus and into the cytoplasm. In the translation process, getting from a gene to a protein take place in cytoplasm. A type of RNA, tRNA, or transfer RNA assembles the protein, one amino acid at a time, the assembly continues until the ribosome reaches a stopping-point. The information shared between DNA to RNA to protein is one of the most fundamental principles in molecular biology. This is so important, that it is also referred to as, "central dogma."
C. What is a gene?
Genes are directions for building the proteins in our body to help or body function. Genes are used to give instructions on how to make and take control/operate the parts of our body. Genes make proteins using a set of instructions which can allow use humans to see or take a look inside our personal features and how we obtain them.
E. What is a protein?
A protein is the machiene within a cell(s) that allow living/growing things to function. Every cell contains thosands of proteins that come together to take control over the cell. Proteins are very small/minuture, so small that they are not visible through any type of microscope, not even the most powerful. When a cell needs to make a certain type of protein, the cells use the information from the gene to inscribe how to make an individual protein.

B. What is DNA?
DNA or deoxyribonucleic acid is represented using a double helix or a twisted ladder. DNA is code for a detailed set of plans that build different parts of the cell. DNA is also the ultimate carrier of genetic material(s). They are a set of instructions that provide all the necessary information in order for a living organism to grow.
D. Transcription and Translation
Every protein is created from a set of certain arragnments of the 20 most common amino acids. Transciption and translation is used by cells to read every gene and also to create a string of amino acids, used to create a protein.
F. An Example of Gene Expression
An example of a gene expression is obesity because it is a major disease that can lead to disease, high blood preasure, and diabetes. For example say a man is the same age as another, but one of them is 40 pounds overwieght, but the same man who is the same age, height, and has the same eating habits as you is at a healthy weight and nobody in your family is overwieght.
